Linen scrapbook, [ca. 1885-1895].

This rare, multi-colored linen scrapbook contains several hundred examples of Victorian era chromolithographic cutouts, greeting cards, and trade cards, some with embossing. Also included are several lithographs decorated with fur and a photograph clipped from a magazine. The album is not arranged in any way, but includes pictures of dogs, cats, birds, children, women's fashions, African Americans, Christmas cards, and Easter cards. Trade cards for such St. Louis merchants as Barr's, Blanke & Bro. Candy, Trorlicht & Dunkler Carpets & Curtains, J.L. Isaacs Decorators, St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper, Wm. Pruforck Parlor Suits, and A.C. Peterson China & Glass Company are listed among others. Lithographers represented include Geo. M. Hayes, Marcus Ward, J.C. Ayer & Co. Major & Knapp, and F. Appell.
